Day 04 - Mon - 08/10/26 - Klaipeda, Lithuania
Morning came early after losing an hour of sleep due to a change in our time zone. The dock in Klaipeda is on a sheltered strip of water between the mainland and a long skinny peninsula called the Curonian Spit. The port here is bustling with a many cargo cranes, a fuel depot, a shipyard, and lots of boat moorage. It turned out that today was the start of the European sailing championships . At noon the racers started on an OVERNIGHT sail in the open Baltic Sea and will return tomorrow. As we were walking out of the terminal area, we encountered a fellow who was both manage of the dock area but also a racer on a team. He gave us a lot of insight into the race. There were also commercial tents set up next to our dock by large support companies like Garmin. It was a real hubbub of activity. After breakfast (the ship arrived at 7am but we didn't get up until 8:30 as I felt nothing would be open), we started walking into town. Ther...
