Day 21 - Thu - 08/27/26 - Day 2 - At Sea to Canada

Once again it was nice to once again wake up a bit later without an alarm going off.  The nights have been restful without virtually any motion from the ocean. Our first event was at. 10am and was a Princess Insider talk on Sydney & Halifax. I didn't find it especially helpful as Angela (not my Angela) ended up spending too much time selling Princess excursions and too little time on real port information.  Since we've been to these ports, I have more than a trivial amount of knowledge of them.

The Princess Patter (daily printed newsletter) is filled with all sorts of activities most of which are somehow related to selling some item or service. There are also many trivia events and various sporting activities.

At 2pm there were competing enrichment type events so we split up and I attended Dr. Angel Colon's "Translational Science" lecture.  He's a professor emeritus at Georgetown University and adjunct professor at Rutgers.  He lectures very well and today's topic was about how pure science translates or morphs into everyday things we take for granted like X-rays, CAT SCANS, transfusions, and the like.  It was fascinating and he's doing a couple more of these lectures.  Angela went to the Behind the Seas: Meeting the Entertainment Managers.  She enjoyed that. We spent the rest of the day just chilling out.  There was a bit more motion to the ocean and it became a bit foggy and rainy to the point that it was difficult to see outside.

After our LIDO dinner, we attend Kathryn Relf's singing presentation of Freddy's Queen about the music of Freddy Mercury and his group Queen.  She was really good and is married or partner to Mikey who performed a few days earlier.

Top, Midde, Bottom was the game show that we watched tonight.  I've described it in an earlier post.  When it was complete we walked forward to the Piazza to watch the Country Western party and it was very sedate to say the least. So I went back to the room while Angela stayed up for her nightly karaoke session. Later when she rejoined me in the room, we enjoyed watching the daily Wake Show about the next day's events and a few jokes that were submitted by guests (I've submitted my fair share) before going to bed.

Tonight was supposed to be a nearly full solar eclipse, but it was too cloudy to see the sky, so that activity didn't happen.

Here's a pro tip for cruising.  Most if not all cruise lines have stopped putting chocolate on the bed at night, so we bring our own and treat each other.  It's a custom we do at home as well every night.  Here's a picture of the current box of inexpensive Belgian chocolates in the shapes of sea shells that we purchased earlier in our voyage at a local grocery store.
