Day 14 - Thu - 08/20/26 - At sea to Kerwick, Scotland

We woke up today a bit later than normal after a poor night's sleep.  It seems that our air-conditioning is not working properly and we can't get the temperature below 73F which is simply too warm for sleeping for us.  I spent much of the day messaging people and talking to the front desk in person trying to get this fixed.  At 5:57pm a technician left a message that it was fixed.  When I returned to the room at 10pm the temperature had dropped 1 degree.  So yet another call was made.  An hour later it was back up to 73.  The system simply can't handle the AC load in our room.

Otherwise our day at sea was pretty relaxing except that I've tied on a pretty nasty head cold.  We had a port talk this morning about our next two ports of call (Lerwick and Stornoway, Scotland) before attending the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet.  There we got to meet Kevin & Kathleen from Atlanta who we will be sharing a couple of shore excursions with.

After a brief lunch, I attended the Deal or No Deal Game Show where one lady won $40 and a fellow won $1. Angela signed up for the Pop Choir and participated in the first practice. We lounged for the rest of the afternoon until dressing up for formal night.

With dinner out of the way, we staked out our seats in the Princess Theater for the cast show, "Do You Wanna Dance?" Which we saw for the first time on the last segment.  It was still really good to see it again.  Afterwards, I participated in the YES/NO game show and won the top prize of a bottle of champagne which I exchanged for a deck of cards which brought an amusing response from the audience.  I've won this game show three times now and three different ships.

Afterwards, Angela stayed for karaoke and I returned to the room to find out if the AC had been fixed.  It had not.  Bummer!

Tomorrow in Lerwick, Scotland (Shetland Islands) we have a mandatory UK immigration inspection in which we have to bring a copy or a digital version of our UK ETA (electronic Travel Authorization).  Interestingly, that document specifically says that we don't need to make a copy.  Go figure.  Plus our inspection time is set for 9:45am which means if we have to keep that time, we'd only have 3 hours off the ship because of the immigration inspection and the use of water shuttles.

We'll play it by ear.
